Using Type Deck in your curriculum
As author and art director Steven Heller notes in the introduction to his educational flashcard type sampler Type Deck: “Typefaces come in thousands of shapes, sizes, and styles. Like verbal language, with all its nuances, dialects, and accents. Typography is not simply a container of meanings, but a translator too. Different typefaces say distinct things to many people. Type is communication on so many different levels of perception and reception.”
With years of experience in the design industry and teaching typography and design, Jason and Kevin have developed design curriculums to educate those interested in learning about all aspects of typography – from design to its application and making a type assignment work.
Using the six videos The Type Guys have produced to supplement your in-class type curriculum – along with the purchase of the Type Deck – students will gain an understanding of each of the six respective styles and their historical context.
Watch our six Type Deck trailers depicting the historical style periods from the 54 cards in the deck, and the complete presentation of the Victorian video.
